Naming of the NEW Labor Demand

The advancement of current societies in incorporating digital tools and internet use at all levels (leading many to call the contemporary era the “digital age”) has brought about significant changes in the world of work and the dynamics of the labor market in particular. Analyzing labor demand information (for workforce, collaborators, personnel, workers, etc.) in the technology sector provides valuable input for improving educational and training designs essential for promoting employment in Uruguay overall. Do you know what we are talking about? 

What are the NEW jobs that the labor market demands? Where is sustainable, quality work being generated? 

Here is the Nomenclature of the NEW Labor Demand:

  • The administrator It's no longer someone who manages companies; in colloquial terms, they are system administrators, Linux administrators, Windows administrators, or Sys Admins.
  • The architect It's software.
  • The Analyst It's Database, E-commerce, Infrastructure, IT Security, QA (Quality Assurance), it can be SEM or SEO analyst, Developer or User Experience analyst, there are also Genexus, Functional, or Systems analysts.
  • The developer He/she does not do real estate projects. He/she develops .Net, Angular, Android (for Samsung phones), iOS (for Apple iPhones). He/she can be a back-end or front-end developer (what you see or what you don't see). There are also C, C#, and C++ developers. There are API and APP developers. He/she can dedicate himself/herself to developing Databases, Systems/Software, Web, or ERPs. But surely some are Javascript, SQL, CSS, or HTML developers; with these four, you can't go wrong.
  • The specialist, If it's in data, they will be a Big Data Tech Lead, Data Scientist, or a DBA (Database Administrator); but if they are a business specialist, they could be an IT Consultant, Product Owner, Project Manager, or Scrum Master (an expert in the agile software development framework).
  • The manager It's not from Administration, Sales, or Production. It's a CTO (Chief Technology Officer), Project Manager, Development Manager, Digital Transformation Manager (Chief Digital Transformation Officer) – pay attention to this one – Growth Hacking Manager (primarily dedicated to promoting the online growth of a product or service, directing traffic from corporate social networks to the page that offers that product or service), Business Intelligence Manager (the professional responsible for both the collection and analysis of sales, market, consumer, etc., information and data, in order to facilitate operational or strategic decision-making), Customer Experience Manager (who has total management of the customer experience in interaction with the brand). To name a few.
  • The boss It's not the one who looks at you when you enter the office if you arrive late. It's a development leader or supervisor, head of infrastructure, project manager, systems manager, team lead, etc.
  • The Support He is an IT assistant or a network specialist.
  • The technician, it can be level 1 or level 2; Junior or Senior, IT or Networks.
  • The tester. Software testers (also known as testers, their English designation) plan and carry out computer software tests to check if they function correctly. They identify the risk of software errors, detect errors, and report them.
